Saturday

Its a bit baren here but this means you don't have to mow the grass, or cut the weeds, or trim the trees, or what ever you do in your ole stick house.

We have lots of these and birds and hummingbirds. We just have not seen many this time. This pic was taken last trip. But you would not know it if I did not tell ya.

Temp: 85 with pc skies and rain in the area. We have been watching the temps at Cochiti Lake to see how warm it is there. The lake is south of Sante Fe and north of Albq off I25. Here at Abiquiu Lake we have to get our temp off the window or Sante Fe. Cochiti Lake has a weather station on line and we watch that. For more pics of this area, see our link to pics.

We are under a flash flood watch. Its 64 now with overcast skies and windy. Its dark to the west and north.

And we have been getting sprinkles at times, showers, and some a bit heavier. Right now we have a showers with more to come from the west. All that can be seen is more. Temp is 74.

Thursday

Shirley took this pic today as she walked around the tent area. This is the pic of the fenced off shore line with warning signs. This side of the shore is cliffs and deep water below. The other side in the pic is a sloping shore line.

There is a fence in the pic to protect the shore line from wandering, lost people. They dont want to get the shore line hurt or damaged anymore by curious people.

There are warning signs on the fence too. If you can read you been warned. If you cant read, watch out for the fence.
Tomorrow we go to Abiquiu and see if our mail has arrived. We ordered it monday, it left Livingston, TX tuesday and the earliest it can be there is thursday. Town is about 7 miles away. While we are there, we will get some milk.

EDIT-

The milk was $5.40!

And our USPS mail has arrived. I took DW to lunch at the Abiquiu Inn. Stop here if you are passing by.

Temp: 79 with pc skies. The rain is south and east of us so far. It did not rain over night either but it was warm. Forecast is for 85.

Wednesday

We are close to the entrance office. In fact its here about 150 feet away. All of the spaces in our area have covered picnic tables. The spaces are nicely spaced apart so that you dont hear your neighbors dinner plans or after hour activities.

Its a cool 65 with sprinkles and cool. We are looking forward to some more warmer weather as it was pretty cool at Acres Green.

And the rv did come. Its was an older Bounder with an older couple and dog.

Temp: 57 this morning with overnight rain. Clear skies till this afternoon. Forecast high is 75.
Mileage: 88 from Acres Green RV Park

Tuesday

It was a warmer night here and we both slept very well. We found out that sunday night it came a West Texas "gulley washer" here. It looks like it really rained.

In the pic you see in the distance the camp host 5th wheel. They are in #6. To the left of them is a pop up in #4. That is where we stayed when we were here. I took this yesterday. This morning the pop up left and now a chevy blazer is there. Its a "toad" so there is a rv somewhere. It may be coming later.

Temp: 58 this morning, 64 now (Santa Fe). We are parked such that we get morning sun on the back and right side. In the evening we get sun on the front and left side. No place to put the thermomoter out of the sun.
Elevation: 6411. So far so good.

Monday

One of the pictures DW took on the road to Abiquiu. There are lots of interesting formations and soil colors here. As you can see, there is cedar vs pine and aspen. Its warmer too, yea!

Our new space. We are in #10 which is one of two pull thrus. The other is the space behind us.. We have a gravel space but there is a draw back. It is across from the potty, the stinky potty. We may have to ove if the wind stays in the wrong direction.

Both DTV and internet dish's are up and running. Our first time to do this on our own.

And they are still working on the 7 miles of construction south of Chama on US84. This time they are putting down asphalt vs tearing up the dirt, its a new road bed. Closer to Abiquiu Lake, they road work of topping is complete. Last time we were here it was in process. Sure is a nice smooooooooth ride now.

We will be here 14 days probably. We got away from some pesky neighbors and breathing problems. And its only $7.00 for elec and water with a nearby dump station.

Temp: 77 with a light wind and pc skies. We will be warmer during the night and day, but not too much.
Elev: 6411 feet.

Sunday

We are getting ready to go tomorrow.

We-
went to the store for groceries and water.

Shirley-
vacuum the floors, rugs and furniture,
washing clothes,
putting up now so she doesn't have to later or in the morning,
due a walkaround for lights on coach, car and dolly

Richard-
check tire pressure on coach, car, tow dolly,
check oil, coolant, PS, PB on coach and car,
wash outside where grass was blown from mower,
wash chrome wheels,
clean outside glass and mirrors (windshield was cleaned when we arrived),
put up ladder and chairs,
finish dusting inside of coach,
Howard steering assist was filled last week, I do like this too.
due a walk around after disconnecting elec, water and sewer line while engine warms,

Tonight we will store the two satellites and wiring. The DTV tripod will go on the ladder and the dish will come inside. The Direcway will be in its usual place, tripod in bay, dish in car and modem and lnb put away in coach. The 3 gallons of water for the DTV tripod will be dumped and tied to the ladder for transport. The water bottle for the DW is put in the car but not dumped.

In the morning DW will pull the coach forward so I can attach the dolley. She will then pull it onto the driveway and I will drive the car on and starp it down. We will check our propane level and get same here as its much easier than in FTW. We will be leaving a few days early. We are due out on 9/22.

We will have a dolly for sale later. We will be buying a new (?) and will be towing with tow bars that we have, just need tow plates. Take a look at the Jeep SUV. The dolly has brakes and 2 new tires. Watch this blog for more if interested. We will sell it at Benbrook Lake which is by Fort Worth, TX . Asking price is $900.00, where is. Tags are not required nor is a title. It comes with a 7 way round connector and has a flat 4 way for the car. Pics will be posted here later when its listed or there is interest.

We are just about ready to head south with stops in Hobbs and Lovington, NM and then on to FTW. We will take our time as its still HOT there. Its getting to cool here and wet, especially wet. We will not have cell service on our first stop but we think we will on the second stop. Service may be interrupted as we go down the road.

Let me also add that Acres Green is the nicest campground we have found and have the nicest owners. Bob and Shirley have gone out of there way helping us and the other RV's from arrival to departure. They offer wifi for those equipped and Bob is a licensed barber.
