Its New Years Eve in South Texas

Happy New Year

Shirley and I wish a Happy New Year to all our friends and family. The two of us have had a wonderfull year. I'm in good health. My brother is also in good health from his quintruple bypass last month. Shirley is in good health. We have a dependable home and tow car. For us it was an expensive year, well above what we had hoped for and could budget.

We will be here in Mercedes, Texas at the Llano Grande Lake Resort till March 1, 2007. Our "tenative" plans are to go to Utah and visit the parks there in the southern part of the state. From there ..... Since we were parked in Colorado during the summer, spent last winter in north Texas and this winter in the RGV, we will probably travel a good bit in '07. Remember that all our plans are subject to change like the fork in the road. Our 2007 blog is located at richardnshirley.blogspot.com

See ya in '07

Its a cool, calm day

The winds are finally over, the front has gone thru. We had three LONG days of 20-30 with gusts to 35 yesterday. We are on the tail of the storm dumping snow on Denver. Its finally moving east. We have loudy skies, 55 for the low, 56 now 68 for the high and 20% chance of rain with 5-10 winds.

These trees are close by and the wind effect is very much shown

I did go to the driving range this morning about 10 and it was cool. There were people in shorts and tees to wind suits and coats today. The shorts people were cold from their body language. Too cool yet to play, maybe later on today. It was also not crowded.

Look at the sand in the air. This is on US83 west near Mission. We went looking at the golf courses and on our way took this pic.

Its a Windy, make that GUSTY Day

We have winds not normal to this area. today thru tonight sometime the wind will be a gale. So far we have had sustained winds in the 25-30 range, forecast 25-35, and the strongest gust so far is at 46. The temp overnight was 57, high so far was 72 with 71 now and forecast to be 78. Our dish is by the side of the rv and rear of the living room slide and still standing and working. This location provides some protection with a tree in front. We are also under the wifi tower.

We went looking at golf courses and saw all from ours toward Mission. The prices are for weekday 18 holes and half a cart.

$49.80 Tierra Santa
$39.95 Palm View
$29.00 Shary Municipal
$26.60 Martin Valley, 27 hole course.
$34.00 Llano Grande

I pay $12.00 for 18 holes + $7.00 trail fee as a renter at LLano Grande.

The yearly membership at Llano Grande is MUCH less than the Palm and Shary rates.
We will come back here next year. Compared to the other parks, I can get a rental cart and be even with a golf membership.

Its going to be a Nice Day today

The forecast is for 72 with light winds. Tomorrow is a gale with 25-35 and gusty. And tomorrow is my birthday. I will be one year "OLDer" and closer to that magial "Medicare".
