Saturday Morning and its Soggy Outside

I got up friday morning about 4 am with a sinus headache. I got some relief with a couple of Tylenol and some allergy tabs. Felt better buy not to chipper. Shirley got up about 8 am and left by 9 am for the pharmacy to get her refill and get a few items. She got back about an hour and half later. We are south of town 10 miles and it is a good 5 miles to the store. It does take awhile.

The rain started here about 2 pm. We had a dinner date with the Deen's and two other couples. We went to the Indian Head Lodge out Peidra road south of town. Its a ways out there. On the way out and back DW and I took these pics of the screnry. I recommend the lodge for dinner. Dinner is only served on friday and saturday from 6-8 pm. Reservations are recommended as the setting is limited. Cost is $13.95 for non working class over 62+ and $15.95 for the working class 61-. Its a serve yourself and all you can eat BBQ with.... It is in the phone book. Ask about the bears and snow fall.

Simply georgous country. The above home is earthen. This is one side, the other sides are covered in earth. It is unfinished concrete and not at all attractive.

The road was paved about a third of the way and then it is gravel. Everything out of town is gravel. Too cold to put down asphalt and keep it repaired.

Just a pic of the area as we traveled. The open fields were quite a sight to see. Lots of cattle and some horses. And some spectuclar homes. Some you only see in the magazines.

What you are seeing is a forest fire, NOT! It looks like smoke but it is actually clouds formed by ground moisture meeting the air above. We had little shower on the way to the lodge. The minivan we rode in is silver but had a lot of tan mud. On the way back we started getting rain. As we got close to town and it was light rain till we gat back to the house.

And it rained all night and is still raining. We get periods of no rain to heavy showers. From the weatherbug, we appear to be in the flashflood area. There is a river that runs thru part of the park. It was up yesterday and should be up more today. Yesterday it looked like it was up a foot. Will take another pic today and compare pics. Our rv friends, Wendle and Sue Deen, are parked by the river. They said that last year in June they had to move because of rising water.

We are up by the hill and away from the water. Which is good. But the exit bridge is over the river. The water would have to rise 5-6 feet to block the exit and another 5-6 feet to get to our space. That is alot of rain and there is other runoff creeks to keep us dry. If it appears to becoming a problem, we will be out of here.

Lets see if the weather will allow us to do some more sightseeing today. We have been here 15 days and have made one trip to town, ate breakfast at two places (don't eat at the motel) and been out for lunch and dinner once. If we can stay healthy, we will get out more. DW said she wants to eat at every place in town. Can I get a loan somebody?

Temp: 58 and cloudy
Forecast: Rain and more coming. If it keeps this up we will all turn green.

And its still raining. We should be above 1 1/2" by now. Temp is 60 after reaching 70. Its soggy and nice.

Thursday and We Went to Town

Here is what the town is known for and why it has this name.

The above is the Big Pagosah and is located in the resort. To find this spring, park across from the movie theatre in the lot off the street. There is a spring along the east edge of the sidewalk shown below. Place this spring to your back and look across the river to the resort and there it is. The big pool is located south of the resort.

To access the pool above, take the pedestrian bridge and there is a sign.

This is the spring by the parking mentioned above. Be carefull as the water is very hot.

This spring is below the one above and along the river walk. This is half of the spring. The other half is in our pic link. A little thing compared to the other springs. The weather has been perfect. It rained most of the night and it is very cool at 74, and its 3:10 pm. We have overcast skies and occusional sun. At 7103 elevation, the air is thin for me. I'm probably at the edge of how high I can go. I am going to try the driving range and see how that goes. Hopefully I can get in some practice and get to play.

The Day After the 4th of July

Today has been a good day. With the car running, we left this morning to see the Dr at 9 am. Dw gat an Rx and we had it filled at the City Market, a Kroger affiliate, and got gas at their station for $3.02.9 (saved a dime). I stopped by and got some donuts, dropped off mail at the PO and headed home. Hopefully tomorrow she will be much better. Our new neighbors, Wendel and Sue from Georgetown, want us to go out to eat friday. We will have to see how DW is doing.

The feast was sooooo gooood that I ate to much. Didn't have room for dessert. Dessert was brownies, pie and home made ice cream. I had to have an Alka-Seltzer to calm my over filled tummy.

I'm looking more to Directv now. Will go to town tomorrow and see what they offer and how much we have to pay for it. Shirley is running out of movies to watch and I miss my golf. With no cell and tv, life will get boring. Our park is still pretty full. The other park had an FMCA rally and they have all gone. The park is more than half empty.

We had rain this morning early and rained till noon. Its beginning again with our usual afternoon showers. The temp over night was 52 and its 76 now. It did get to 80 on our gauge. It is so nice and green and peacefull.

Our 4th of July "SPREAD"

Our host Bob at the grill doing his thing. Look at the BBQ that he has for us to enjoy.

And here he is hard at work. And of course, the ever ready phone at the hip in case.

Here is what we all brought. The desserts were on an adjoining table. We had potato salad, green salad, slaw, dip and chips, fresh fruit, watermellon, cake pie, brownies, etc.

Our one man band with cowboy and music of the hour

This is those that were in the front of the line and getting started. Those in line were still there hoping for left overs and tidbits. Shirley, Bob's wife, fixed DW a plate of food and dessert and I bought it to her. We both had more than we could eat. Our dessert of brownies and blueberry pie will be eaten tomorrow.

The other park also had a good time with their party.

Elev: 7103

Its the 4th of July, 2006 in the land of the Free

The clouds to the north east about 1:30 pm. Since then it has sprinkled and is looking really nasty. We need the rain here so let it rain, but after the party. That was thunder in the distance.

The Acres Green backyard is set up awaiting the start of the party. I know its BBQ and fixings and bring your dish and drink.

This is the Blanco park tent by there reception building. Soon they to will be gathering. Both parks are full and most have been here since friday and saturday. Several of the people have come here for several years.

We hope everybody is having a good 4th of July. We will be soon as the park party will begin at 3'ish. Its a bring a dish to go with the BBQ and fixin's. We have a pie to take. Since DW is still not up to her normal self, I will be bring her a plate.

We went and got the alternater taken care of. We now have wheels. Took an hour to install but its done. The last alternater repair was 1998 under warranty at the dealer. This one wont last that long. We are talking of a new car for next year. Our cavalier has 151,800+ on it and we are putting on 1100 to 1500 per month.

And I got some more hummingbird pics. These are not as good since the light is in the wrong direction. They are fast, aggressive birds. Some of them are picky who gets to drink the juice.

When the party starts, there will be more pics. I do want to let all you good people see what we will have to eat. I'm sure it will be a "spread"!

Sunday Morning or Mid Day

We are still here enjoying ourselves. Since we can't go anyplace, its walk the park and observe the campers. I will post an update on the car monday as to what, where and $. Since there are other shops in town, I'll stop by and get prices for this alternater repair.

DW is doing about the same. If the car was drivable, we couldn't go till she is much better. Hopefully that will be by Tuesday so she can see the 4th in town. The weather has been great and the place we are at is very pretty with the green grass. Other than the roads here , the only gravel is under the rv. The rest of the place is grass, green grass.

There are two rv parks here, side by side using the same exit and bridge. One has the river and the other has the mountain. And both are for sale. We got the mountain as the river was full when I called. In fact all the parks in the area were full except this one. The Passport America park west of here on US160 was a "pass". We did drive thru it and drove right out of it. DW wanted to stay one day to look around but I thought it was so bad that I "drove" out without stopping. We did find an abandonded rv park near the US84 turnoff north of town. We pulled in there and parked the rv and took the car hunting for a place to stay.

Both rv parks ar full. The tent area is full. The showers are very busy. Our park, Acres Green, has wifi. I have made our wifi unaccessable since there is wifi available.

The grocery store in town is a Kroger affilate. The new one is south of town and the older one is near the downtown area, or the hot springs. They are City Market. I will try the golf driving range soon and see if me and this altitude can play. At $50 plus cart, I will play if I can. If not, then save my money for a later day. By the way, this is the only golf in town and the more expensive course is north of the pass on US160.

If there are any happenings here, I'll do an update.

Temp: 82 with PC skies.

Nothing new to report. But I did look at the belt tension adjuster and I will see if I can loosen the belt. With that done, I will do the repair of the alternater myself and save a bundle. I will also call the chevy house in Darango and get a price for the alternater. We will be mobile again, makes me feel like a teenager geting to use the car.

We had the last of the Walmart steaks, tough little bugers. We bought Kroger steaks last week before the car problem, much better.

We have showers and a temp of 64. Nice for ya'll in the heat of.....

Charlin asked- my leg has Dermitis caused by a lack of blood flow when a vein is removed. Its treatable with a Rx cream we have. Its doing real well. And its raining at 11 pm.
