Saturday

We are in space 1 here at Bear Creek campground, Benbrook Lake. We are physically on the south side of the lake toward the west. We are nearest the US377 and TX1187 intersection going to Crowley, IE on the south side of the river bridge, 1187 going east.

This is our tow dolley, a Master Tow with steel fenders. It is "For Sale" at $900.00 with two new tires of less than 5000 miles. We went under 3000 this year and the right tire was put on this year when we started.

In the background is Ron/Sandy's car.

The dolley comes with a key lock on the ball, good tie down webs for the tires and spare. It has electric brakes for your brake actuator.

We are car looking as we speak. Suggestions welcome as long as the weight is under 4000 lbs and its an automatic.

This is the front door side of the space with table, cover, concrete walk and asphalt drive. The water and electrical are on this side.

The left side has the sewer hookup and the rest room behind the rv. The showers are down the road about a mile. The campground is split with this part and the rest of the campground being about 1 mile away.

The walking and bike riding is probably 3 miles round trip on all paved road. This space and #2 have the full hookups. They are the old camp hosts parking. We are 36 foot long and have to watch for a tree limb above the rv rear. This puts us near the road in front. We are a good 10 feet from the end of the space in the rear but as close as we can get with the limb in the way.

We made this year with no body damage. The repairs we are having done is due to worn or worn out parts. I should get the expense back at time of sale.

This campground is to remain open for the winter. Its not bad, quite, little weekend traffic, and clean and close to everything. You winter Texans come on down.

Thursday

We dont know the story here but one thing is for certain, somebody lost their motorhome while on the road. I found this on TX1187 going from US377 to TX1371. In plain english it is between the Granbury highway on 1187 toward Crowley. I just hope they got out with no injury.

It is or was a Rockwood from the back. We didn't take any pics from the right side. It does appear to have more damage to the front or engine area. Other than that, only those there at the time know.

There are a few more on the webshots but not many.

Just be carefull out there and always be ready to get if this should happen to you. As DW and I were talking, grab the cat, I'll get the two laptops and out the door as that is about all the time we will have. The rest is insured and paid for. Why the laptops? They got all our financial and personal data. There easier to get to than backup cd's.

Its a real shame for someone.

We will have the coach part in the shop on the 25th at Ancira in Alvarado. Its fix the windshield, rear jacks and bedroom slide cover. When we get a price, I'll let you know. This should fix us up for sometime. The rest is a Ford yearly maintance and we have done that this year.

Lets go RV'ing!

Wednesday

Here we are at Benbrook Lake.

Last year we were here to see the Dr about my angina. This year we are here for our yearly checkup and to get the RV ready to go for another year. Our last post listed the work we had done at the Ford dealer. On the 25th, we will go to Anceria in Alverado for somr repairs. We have two rear jacks that leak, the bedroom slide awning cover to replace and the right side windshield to repair the gap to the moulding. After that its off to south Texas and a winter spot or spots.

We are talking about the car and dolly, or a new car and tow (we have a tow bar), jobs and where, and next years travel. I have our monthly budget for 05 and so far for 06 listed wrong on a prior post. For 05 with everything including insurance, repairs, etc, we averged about $2600.00 per month. For 06 so far, we average about $2100.00 per month. This includes everything. And you that follow us know we don't spend lots on camping or gas. A tank a month if possible and $11.00 a night is the max so far this year. We have spent 4 nights in Wal mart for the year.

The above is space 9 from last year. we are in space 1 now with fuh. $11.00 per night is all. No frills and no hot tubs. Its a COE park.

Tuesday and Hello Cowtown

We are finally here. We had to make a stop at the Ford service department in Weatherford, TX today as we had a "service engine soon" light. It turns out that the air intake was sucking in water and the air filter got too wet to let air pass. Hence, we have an engine problem, kinda. While it was there, we had scheduled service performed for the year. The truck part is good for a year. Time for a visit to the RV dealer for RV service. Total for parts and labor listed below:

a. service engine light....................$89.95
b. engine oil change........................$15.71
c. transmission fluid change..............$126.40
d. replace fuel filters.......................$71.20
..........................................................add tax and total..................................$314.87

We will have the rear jacks repaired (leaks), bedroom awning replaced (its has some holes) and the windshield gap repaired. All this will be more than the Ford factory trained total. The RV service has to be a rip-off. More on this when it happens.

Mileage: 377 from parking space in Lovington, NM to Benbrook Lake COE at Bear Creek came to 377. Gas in NM was $2.689, $150.00 to get here and $2.579, $137.00 just before we pulled into the COE. The car was driven by DW and she put in 8.5 gallons for 377 miles. And the car is a 94 Cavalier with 154, xxx miles. How's that for gas mileage. Don't ya dare check the RV, no comparison!

Temp: 83 with pc skies. No rain since yesterday and we have had more than enough.

Sunday

We have had rain constant for over 24 hours. I mean it has been light to geavy. Right now it is light to medium. We are planning on moving tomorrow toward home. We need to dump tanks and get water here and then stop in Hobbs for gas and put on the car.

We wanted to put the satellite dish up tonight but its raining to hard. So we will do that tomorrow, even in the rain. We are hoping to drive out of this rain as we head east. If you have been following us, you know we have been experiencing rain for some time. even though our last move was due to allergies, the prior moves were due to the rain and cool weather.

So, to those of our family and rv friends Ron and Sandy, look for us there Tuesday. We will probably not drive the 7-8 hours from here in on monday. We will come to Bear Creek and see if 1, 2 or 9 is available. We need to wash clothes but that can be done at the commerical laundry. We will check the email in the morning and then pack up and go.

My dad is doing fine, for his 87 years. He is more feeble but still getting around well. His trimbling left hand is a little worse, but he still does well with it. He seems to be content with his room and surroundings. He is loosing weight though. He eats well but has lost weight. He did call me by name but did not know who DW was and forget Jims DW name. And he knews that we travel in the rv and was interested as to where we had been.

So, we will see everybody in a couple of days.
