Its The Weekend and its Saturday

1:30 pm

This is the visiting team pitcher. Got him at the beginning of his stretch. He is rated 1st in his district and has a full schlorship to a university in Kansas. Wish him well as he could be the next great name in baseball.

The first batter at the top of the first inning. The visiting team drove nearly 500 miles friday to be here for their saturday game. The home team stands in the background did fill up as the game progressed. The visiting team is from an American Indian reservation near Farmington, NM.

And the home team pitcher as he was in the middle of his pitch. He pitched a good game as the score will attest.

The sign at the ball field in Lovington, NM.

The final score for today. The rule is 10 runs at the end of four innings is the ball game. The score board tells the tale.

10:00 am

This is what we woke up to. It was a misty morning and now its cloudy with rain in the forecast. We are suppose to go to the high school ball game at 11 am. So far its not to cool at 57. The weatherbug has no wind but it rained some all night. We will probably go and see if they play. The last time we saw a ball game was in Wessington Springs last year. If you go back to our travels to then there are lots of pic's to see. If they play, I will post some pics for ya.

Its been a busy day

We have been scanning family photos since March 21st, about then. We scanned 4 albums of 50 pages, double sided. the count at that time was, approx. 970 pictures, plus news paper clippings, death notices, birth announcements, etc. Close to 1050 documents. Now we are doing more of the same and the count on pics alone is around 1225. There is a box of stuff yet to go through as well as two foot lockers and a file cabinet..

Once I get it all scanned, I/we will go back to where I stopped, about 672, and add names etc to each photo. All of this is to keep our family history intact and with our genology that my mom started and worked on till her death in 1996. Lots has been done and yet lots more to do. Probably more to scan than has been scanned. There is work to do on the road.

We will be here till about the 15th so my brother can go to his grandaughters 16th birthday. We will be house sitting their 3 dogs and 3 cats. Then its off to Pecos to see the family farm of 15 or 30 acres. We will know more once we get to the county court house's. I say that plural as the property is in two counties. We will stay at the Escapee park there. Our first time at their parks. But not the last as we will be going thru "The Ranch" and making a stop there as we head north.

The Wild life

We have some wildlife on the lake. There are ducks, geese, and more ducks and geese.

This is the three bachelor's. They spend their time chasing the girls around the lake. Sometime they are successful and sometimes not.

Here is some of the girls. There are lots of fowl here to watch and feed.

They egg is the future of the fowl. Shirley found this one at the base of a tree. We went back later and it was gone. Probably found and destroyed by the human visitors.

The Last of the Park in Lovington, NM

A current pic of me as we went walking.
Since I usually take the pictures, this is a rare moment.
The park board with a little history.
And our home.
We will be here thru most of the week of the 15th of May.
Then we will be traveling to Pecos, TX and returning back to NM and seeing the sights.
As we travel from place to place, I will be posting daily what we see.

The Park in Lovington, NM Childrens Playground

The childrens playground with all of their "toys". This area is close to the parking and is large in land area. Lots of good stuff to play in and on.

Another and better view of the playground equipment. This is a small town and yet they have lots of parks and equipment for all ages.

The Park in Lovington, NM Walking Trail, Part 4

This is the final pictures of the track and the exercise stations along the way.
This is the overhead bars which is two levels for tall and short persons. I can't do these bars and couldn't when I was in basic training in the Army. I have bursitis in both shoulders and this prevents me from using my arms over my shoulders with any weight. The Army didn't care, I was Viet Nam bound any way and a warm body was a warm body. I ended up with an artillery firing battery for 8 months. Lost some hearing over there which I will never find.

Tomorrow I will post pictures of the large childerns playground and the equipment they have. As I have stated, this is a very nice park.

The Park in Lovington, NM Walking Trail, Part 3

Another view of the lake with the islands in view. Look closely and you might see some folks fishing.
As we walked we came upon this excercise station. It also is one of a pair. Neigher of us knew what this is.

Here is a close up of the exercise station. If you can identify what it is, leave a comment. We are about half way around the track now and have much more to show you. The best part is the childrens play area and there is lots of platground equipment.
