Saturday

Looking for Silver Falls out in the parture some 16 miles from town. Really! There in the mist of all this is DW, better known as Shirley, looking for the falls.

We went our seperate ways today. I stayed home and spent a quite day. With no tv, there are not lots of choices. So I took a walk and watched the clouds build to the north, watched the gravels trucks across the road as they are building a road for the property taht is going to be for sale. 35 acre horse ranches, and I heard their about a 1/2 million each.

DW went to town for her "me day". She spent all morning and half of the afternoon there. She came home with her new movies and a Sonic cup. She had a good time.

Now its late in the day, 4:30 pm and coming up dinner time. What shall we have to eat for dinner?

We had Italian here. Not as good as the Olive Garden but it's not the Olive Garden!

Temp: 80, high was 87 with partly cloudy skies.

Its Friday, FriDAY, FRIDAY!

We caught these guys tubing down the river. They distrubed the fishermen after the trout.

DW made the comment that the water ought to be cold.

She is talking about starting a blogg on "Outhouses" She was out walking and took a picture of one close by. This is by the cabin for rent and the one she took is her first.

We went to the store, got gas and came back. We have a fish fry tonight and we must bring our own baked potato. Several of the campers have gone fishing and caught some trout which is on the menu.

Its now noon and 85. Hmmm, may get to 90 if it doesn't rain.

And its a nice 42 at 7 am. What is it in you neck of the woods?

The Day before Friday, Its Thursday

A view from the overlook on the US160 to/from Wolf Creek Pass. Its along ways down and most of it is straight down. The rock formations here are very interesting. A geolgist would enjoy the rocks.

And you thought I was kidding yesterday. See the cabin in the woods and the little "cabin" in the background. This is for rent. You can actually stay here and enjoy the back to nature. There is a stream nearby to get water to heat and bath. What, you want a shower? This aint no motel!

And you didn't believe me about the stream crossing either did ya! Well this is more than a crossing, we actually followed the stream bed for about a hundred feet. With our low clearance under belly, it was slow driving thru. Have no idea what our elevation is but we were up over the 7103 at the park or the 7500 at the golf course. And we had 8 miles of this gravel road.

Today was driving range practice and wash the clothes. We have our new printer, came in yesterday. Its 18 lbs and smaller than the Epson. All paper is loaded and returned to the front. No rear access required. Both computers can use it as a local printer and my computer can use it as a network printer when its attached to Shirley's computer. Have yet to get it to work on my computer as a network for Shirley. But will keep trying. She can't see me at all and don't know why. Most of the time the printer will be on the shelf behind the couch and the wire will be attached to me. Got to get her networked.

Temp: 80 at 11 am.
Clear skies may reach 85 today.
High today was 84.

Ahhhhhh, its so nice here we may stay another month.

Sure makes our budget look good.

The Tuesday late Post for Wednesday's Edition

And the late Wednesday update. These were posted yesterday for ya'll to see and be texted today. We spent most of yesterday getting to the places to get the pics.

Look at the above closeup and find the highway and the car. This is the road to Wolf Creek Pass from Pagosa Springs. We are on one of the switch backs and will have another at the bottom of this section. The pass is at the top of this rise above us. Most of the road is 7% on this side and 3 lanes with shoulder. There are two runaway's if needed.

This is Treasure Falls at the base of the road to Wolf Creek Pass. The falls is a good 200 yards away with a path to get there, but it was closed. This is a close up that is cropped to get a better close up of the falls. This is the only one seen from the highway.

And this is Silver Falls. This is a 8 mile trip from Pagosa Springs and then another 8 mile out the gravel road thru the woods, over two or three creek crossings, 2 miles down the ranchers road to the cabin in the woods. Yep, all true. The falls is 1/8 mile, 661 feet or 220 yards thru the woods and also up the mountain side. The trail we were to follow was very difficult to follow. Smetimes it was a matter of which one you wanted to follow. The shot above was from the road and cropped to get the pic above. I wished I had taken the pic of the bear claw markes on the tree.

And here we have the top of the pass with the signs telling about the road and the Continential Divide. Yep, we were where the water sheds east and west. The bronze strip under the bicycle is the divide. That lady in blue is still following me and watching the folks. But aint she cute.

There is more to see if you have a high center, 4 wheel drive. And on the stretch to Silver Falls, go on further and go up the high angle unimproved road to the cascades.

More as we can get there. Would like to go to Durango, the casino, maybe to Creede and other places. Remember, we are at 7103 1t the park, the golf course in town is at 7500+ there is rolling hills all around. The roads are improved by road grader and are gravel. Speed is slow at best and slower when wet. With the afternoon rains, we passed on some of the trips. It rained this morning but not this afternoon.

Tomorrow its to the driving range with my neighbor Pete from Texas and try to see what I can do at 7500 feet. I hope I can breath.

Temp: 72, dont ya just hate me!

The Monday update

I forget to say that we have bought a new printer. We purchased from HP a 5610 all in one, printer, copier, scanner, fax inkjet. It was the best buy we could find without actually touching one. There may be a better price but we bought what we thought would work for us. We passed on another Epson. Ink cost is higher for the HP so we will have to watch our useage. It should be here tomorrow afternoon.

We went driving around town and found these near a museum. They appear to be old and from the early settlement here.

Somebody by this name owned a business here.

And as you can see this is why we have not been going out much. This is a mid morning shot from our space at the rv camp. We are getting much needed rain. It just makes going difficult. All of the roads to go sightseeing are what is called "all weather", ie gravel. And muddy and rough and can be slippery. On some of the roads it is recommended that a 4 wheel and hig center vehicle be used. Our car is neither.

Sunday in Pagosa Springs, CO

No pictures, nope, not one.

It was a cool night, no rain but some sprinkles. I got up at 6:30 am and had more sinus problems and breathing diffucilties. Some of this carried over to this afternoon. DW got up later and got ready and went to church. She is having some problems with her asthma. Since we both are having breathing problems, I wonder if the moist air has something to do with it? We have been sorta confined to the rv, but not the first time. The common denominter is the rv, altitude and weather. Since we had no prolems with the rv earlier this year, that leaves the altitude and the weather.

I have had some problems with this 7103 elevation. DW has been fine till the last couple of days. Its this time frame that it has rained every afternoon and some into the late evening. We don't have any mold in the rv. We have window awnings out for the living area and the bedroom area. And the windows open under the awnings. Hmmmmm....

We went for lunch at a mexican restraunt, Ramons, by the City Market. We had their brunch. Wished I had ordered off the menu. The brunch was geared for a late breakfast, had several egg dishes. We will have to try another place and see what we get.

Our printer, an Epson CX6400 has died. The thing will not print. DW has had it apart and still it won't print. We will have to get a new one when we get back to where they are sold. Pagosa Springs has no stores to buy a printer. The nearest Wal mart is 60 miles in Darango, or 95 miles to Farmington, or 100+ to Espanola. We can scan but not print or copy. It is a 3 in one. We will get another so we can make copies or scan and email/copy. When you need a copy of the auto/rv insurance, its nice to have. The printer is about 3 years old.

More as/if it happens. In the mean time, it looks like more rain.

Temp: 74 and cloudy
