Friday

We had a busy day Friday. DW spent the day with her mom. They went shopping and did the usual girl things. I played golf with my old golf partner, Dick Ulring. I haven't been around for the last two years to play. This turned out to be the last time we will be together. He is moving to Indianapolis, IN very soon. Partly for the job and mostly a chance to near the grandkids. Its been a good friendship for many years and I'm proud to call him my friend. He will be missed.

Its Saturday morning and the plans for today are to wash clothes since we have a full hook up. I will get pics of our space later today. Also, make it to the post office and get two more family pic cd's mailed. I need two more mailers now and maybe more later so a trip to Wal-Mart is in the plans soon. I have mailed these to the immediate family and ist cousions so far. I will go to the genology list and get more names, verify address for more mailings later.

DW has a Dr appointment Monday and we will be moving to Lake Lavon COE campground next week to see son Cary, wife LeaAnn, and my three grandkids. He has three, two boys and a girl and the middle boy, Kameron has his birthday on friday with a "bounce" house party on Sunday afternoon. Should be lots of fun for the kids.

We are going to reschedule 1000 trails show and tell at Lake Whitney the following week . We have one for next week to be rescheduled. We will be here in the area for the above mentioned. Then we will head south to daughter's house to see her and hubby and my three kids there too. She has two son's and a daughter also. We will stay at Canyon Lake COE for the weekend before heading to the RGV area, Keerville, and the hill country and other points that way.

Wednesday

We spent all day Monday and to the mid afternoon Tuesday in Ancira's shop in Alverado, Texas getting the RV repaired. This is a summary posting of the work, cost and my summary of what we paid for.

The windshield repair from the outside of the coach. Larry partially removed the exterior seal and filled in sealant and replaced the seal. We sat overnight and let it harden.

One of slide covers with the holes in it from a hail storm.

One of the two jacks that had to be replaced. This one is shown on the passenger's side of the coach. We actually got a rebuilt jack on the passenger side and a new jack on the drivers side. The non-repairable jack had a scoured rod from grit.

The windshield repair viewed from the inside of the coach. This shows the repair in process with the glass partially removed

And the other slide cover with its hail damage. Pictures of the fabric have been sent to GMAC insurance for their review and coverage. Our service advisor got on top of the rv and took pics of more hail damage and sent all that to GMAC. I also sent the pics of the storm when it happened and the larger than quarter hail stones we got. The car, Cavalier, is damaged but we have not claimed it as it would be totalled.

I will post here the results of the claim with GMAC and what they will be doing or not doing.

Summary-

The Labour-

The quality of the labour that worked on our RV was what I expected; very, very good. They guys were knowledgable of the work that they were to do and worked in a steady, professional manner. There was none of the "what to I do next" and standing around waiting for direction. The workmanship looked well. Especially on the windshield and covers. No "runs or drips" and no creases on the covers.

The Price-

GOG and the Data protection fee are catch all and appear to be a way to add additional charges.
The price for off the shelf transmission fluid is way beyond resonable and IS a RIPOFF.
Walking thru the showroom and looking at the "store" reminds me of being in a high price place looking a productes you can buy at high priced Camping World for much less. Case in point, I need to replace overhead clearance lights. Ancira's price is over $6 bucks each for the same item I bought at Hitches, Etc. In fact I got all three for $6 and tax.

For quality of workmanship, Ancira has some of the best in Alverado, TX

For price, go somewhere else.

The SUV-

We had Hitches, Etc, Fort Worth, put on the tow plates and wire the SUV for towing. We had an appointment for last Friday and they did the work in about 2 hours. We asked for a got a rear hitch but the hitch for the 07 is not yet available. The 06 hitch they put on we had them take off as it pushed on the rear chrome and looked bad. We will have to wait for the right hitch to be ready at a later date.
We did have to bring the RV to them as the lights on the SUV did not work properly. It turned out the RV plug was bad. I had it replaced vs trying to make it work.

They did exceptional work at a reasonable price. Need a tow plate or hitch, see them. This is what they do and they are very good.
